There was a recent power surge and even though i had a power surge protection outlet, my computer still got busted. Is there any possible way for me to fix it or i have to get a new pc?Power Surge!
Ouch, that sucks. If it's definitely fried, you might be able to determine which parts were zapped and only replace those. I'd start with a new power supply and start testing your way through the rest. Power Surge!
Was this a pre-built? If so, call the company or consult the warrant to see if you can get a replacement. If you built it yourself, you'll need to check the warranties for all of the parts in your computer and see if the company covers that. If not, you're screwed, as there's almost no way to repair the parts if they're burned.
how much does a computer power supply cost because i called the technicle service and it said about $200. My computer was pretty old, so if i bought a new one, i could by for less. But is there any cheap way (under $100 around) that i can fix it? or is it totally fried?
If you had it plugged into a surge protector...and your pc still got damaged. Talk to the makers of the surge protector. IT should cover some of the damage. Also, Just start checking things as it probably didnt damage everything but mayboe only one or two things.
Power supplies can range from 20 to 500 dollars depending on what type you get. This is assuming the power supply is the only thing that got toasted. Installing a new power supply is a simple task.
If you have a surge protector then shouldn't the manufacterer (of the surge protector) cover you? call up the company and tell them what happened, they should do something about it.
