Samsung 226BW VS. LG L226WTY-BF and is t ...

While doing research for a new monitor, I came across the Samsung 226BW and what is called the Samsung ''Lottery'', which I am sure most of you are familiar with. I was very curious to see if this was in fact true, or just hype. The monitor had great reviews for the most part and I decided to order it from newegg, besides, no matter who truly makes the monitor's panels, Samsung has to stand by it. When I received the monitor I was amazed, very bright vivid, and the text rendering was great. I also enjoyed the features, being able to change to ''text'' mode or ''movie'' mode, hell even ''game'' mode. The monitor was awesome. As I used it and read more about this scandal, I became more and more curious as to what model I had.I actually took the back off of the monitor to see who made the panel (Samsung is no longer placing A,S, or C on their models). It turns out my monitor was made by AU Optics, I got an ''A'' model. BOOO, I was pissed, suddenly I noticed back-light bleeding, and color didn't seem right, refresh rate wasn't really 2ms, this monitor sucks. So, planned to return it to newegg. In the meantime I began researching new 22'' monitors and the LG L226WTY-BF, and wow, it had great reviews, almost identical specs to the samsung, and hey, no lottery! So against my better judgement I ordered it and was instantly poor, but hey, I am going to finally have a quality monitor (and yes the LG is a bit more expensive then the samsung). When I received the LG I was so damn excited, plugged it in, and wow, it was also amazing, very bright, vivid, text rendering didn't seem as good, and not as many features as the Samsung. So just for s**ts and giggles I compared the two side by side, just to confirm my suspicions that my samsung monitor was truly ass and inferior compared to the LG, it had to be, it was an A model. Turns out I was completely wrong. The Samsung looked amazing compared side by side with the LG. Whites were whiter, black were blacker, and after adjusting Samsung's RTA (Response Time Accelerator) games looked much better on the Samsung. i thought the Samsung had bad light bleeding, ha, when compared to the LG the Samsung's light bleeding was virtually non-existent. I bought into the hype after I found out I had an A model, and it cost me $350 extra. How stupid I was, now I will have to sell the LG on ebay. Conclusion: All companies outsource their products, whether its LG, Samsung, Sanyo, Sony, you name it and they outsource it. The fact is no matter who they outsource too, they must stand by their product. This whole lottery thing is hype, that's all, and it took me a total of $800 to realize that(hopefully some of which i will get back after selling the LG).The purpose of this thread is to see if anyone has a similar story, or a comment on the Samsung ''Lottery'', or disagree with my comparison. Well, from what ive read at your post, i figured out that you are gonna shoot your self after you see Samsung with truth S-Panel because so far they are the best for sure.
Theres apanel lottery but people are getting used with it esepecially that Samsung's panel are so rare these days so getting one with A means nice screen.
Also many people are fixing the colours on the 226bw which comes with A panel by some fixes and files to make it almost identical with the S-panel.
Finally both panels are exactly the same except for colours which is very important for graphic users but for normal gamers most of them wont even notice the differene between C and S
how do you know what panel you have as i don't know which one i have :?
if you bought it long tiem ago then you can see it from the label back of your screen. Otherwise you need to do some tricks at OSD by having brightness at 0 and other things so a screen will pop up to you to tell you about that.
Easily google for it and you will find it fast
panel no: pm20wsmodel : sm2032mw
I bought mine just a week ago, and there were not any markings on the outside to indicate the panel maker, nor did the secret method of putting the contrast and brightness to zero and holding the auto sync button for 5 sec show the panel maker. I actually had to remove the back of the monitor, then lift up the inside cover to look on the panel itself. There you will find the name of the panel manufacurer. If you google this there is a good article explaining exactly how to do it, I am not sure of the exact link.
