No use buying DDR3 now even if it is to future proof your system. Timings on DDR3 now are pretty high, till to a point which it isn't practical. Chances are, DDR3 could drop to the $100 price point after a while Nehalem comes around.Even so, I don't see DDR2 dying off just yet.
Maybe at the end of this year will see DDR3 for 100$, the mass production for DDR3 has not started yet

well DDR3 will not become mainstream for sure until around 3 years most likely seeing as people have become accustomed to DDR2 atm.
if their was an n force board that suported it i would have it in my pc now, as it is i went ddr 2, but if i had got ddr 3 it would have been stupid of me. the proscessors dont take advantage of it yet, toms hardware got a 5-10% performance increase over ddr 2 in some cases but the only fiesable reason to use it now is if your a. rich and b. want to over clock stupid amounts
