okay - added them (still had them in my temporary wish list) - Thanks
Here is the E8400 for $192.http://www.onsale.com/shop/detail.aspx?dpno=7369554%26store=onsale%26source=bwbfroogle
finally someone who knows what they are building before they put something up that wont give them price performance. That build is actually better then mine but I cant complain because I got my best price performance rig I could have dished up. BTW happy gameing.

I'll take that is a hint that I need to go ahead and upload my avatar - lol. For the price above, I'll probably switch to the E8400. Will be price shopping in the next day or so. Now - about cooling - any help in that area? Also - sockets, other miscellaneous pieces that I need? (already have an antistatic band) And - LCD versus CRT - a little brief comment?

Definetaly get the E8400, everything else looks great. As for CRT vs LCD, I'll let Thinker take this one...
As for CRT vs LCD, I'll let Thinker take this one...
LOL !! This guy is getting hell famous these days
I'd dish out some extra money on the RAM for some Crucial Ballistix. Shouldn't be too much, another $10-$20 tops. This is only relevant if you're going to overclock that E8400 though. With your motherboard and your case, you may want to consider a cooler other than the Freezer 7 Pro. I'm no professional reviewer, but this thread may be worth reading, followed by this one. The Freezer 7 Pro just didn't do it for me - maybe it'll be better for you, but personally, I'd go for something a little better. Now, saving money? Well, you could save a fair bit on the graphics card - cutting back to an HD3850 512MB card would be a great choice, it'll save you around $60, and you'll still get a very powerful card. You could consider a cheaper case like the Cooler Master Centurion 5 as well, that would help. And it also might be worth considering cutting way back on the processor - I'm talking back to something like the E2160. Reasons for this are simple:1: Many P35 boards need a BIOS update to support the new Wolfdale chips. If you don't have an LGA775 processor kicking around you have no way of updating the BIOS, as that requires a processor. It might work if you just throw in the chip and try to update first thing, but I wouldn't risk it without further information. 2: You can wait for one of the Yorkfield quad-core chips to come out. Hell, you could wait for quite a while after they come out, possibly even until Nehalem is nearly out, and pick up a very cheap quad-core chip. This will give you time to save up a bit more money for a higher-end and more future-proof processor, while still having a powerful chip right now (especially if you overclock). 3: It will be a good introduction to overclocking if you're new to it. If you damage your processor, you won't be too put out - obviously you won't be happy, but at least you won't have burned up several hundred dollars. Odds of you damaging anything are minimum though. But I've also found that it's easier building a rig that doesn't cost as much. You're more relaxed, and not as prone to making a silly mistake because you're too focused on one thing without considering the big picture.
Rayvin - too bad you're not near Birmingham - I'd just pay you to build it - Have read the threads you noted and am digesting the ''simple'' reasons - wow - this soon to be 50 stuff is getting to my mind -doesn't seem so simple anymore - Anyway - after digesting for a day and price checking - I would appreciate it if you guys would look at a build for me one last time before I sign away - Thanks for all of your help - you too trooper and muscles **thinks - I wonder if my own son knows how good he has it - maybe he'll be able to use my computer every once in a while**
Get the 8400 insted of the 6750.
Rayvin - RAM - Crucial or Corsair - I found Corsair for same price?
