My 2600XT is running at 85 when playing a game according to rivatuner, and more like 72 at idle. Is this normal? What should I do? Add a fan?
That's running towards the medium-high end of where you'd like to be. Adding a fan to help exhaust hot air from the case wouldn't be a bad idea. The cooler the better. You can adjust your fan on your video card via RivaTuner and set it to high when you're gaming (if you're not doing this already).I run 2 8800GTS 640MB cards in SLI and before I added a 120mm fan to the back of my case they would idle around 70 and top out around 95 under a full load. With the fan, they idle around 62 and top out around 84 under a full load (Crysis). HD 2600 XT running 85 degrees under load ...
Ok, I upped the fan setting in rivatuner, and now I'm at 66 degrees idle and 75 ish full load. I'm happy with it under 80 when playing Crysis. I also underclocked it from where I was at, I may have been pushing it. Stock is 800/1100 and I'm at 830/1134.
glad to hear that
