Should I overclock?

I've heard a lot about overclocking.... but I don't know much about it. I got my Dell PC in December, and I'm not sure the cooling for the CPU would handle too much OC'ing with it being a Dell and all..... And how about OC the GPU? I've heard you need to download rivatuner..... What are the risks one takes when overclocking?I plan on running my CPU all the way through 2008 and beyond, but my graphics card will be upgraded by summer/fall, hopefully to a 9800GT.Should I overclock?
depends how much you over clocking. If it's alot then you would need to invest in liguid cooling. Any at all you would need to replace the crappy stock CPU cooler. I usually stay away from OC'ing cus it makes your things die faster and if it's breaks your screwed. No warrenties cover OC'ing. Is your CPU bad/old?Should I overclock?
unless you have a Dell XPS you cannot Overclock it as pre-builts have locked BIOS's so you cannot OC your CPU at all.. you can however overclock your GPU with rivertuner or ATi-tool..
overclocking is only worth it for someone who specifically purchased a performance motherboard with an overclockable northbridge chip. Dell usually doesnt buy those chips for you people and even if they do..no way it will have some active cooling or a copper heatsink.
OK, you're right, I looked it up and my Bios is locked from Dell so no OC'ing for me.Can someone elaborate about GPU OC'ng? Should I just get ATI TOOL or rivatuner (which?) and start oc'ing?Sorry I'm a newbie.

+1 for ATItool. takes about two minutes to find download and install. Also GPU-z, as it helps to show the gains made by GPU OC'ing, by displaying verious specs such as bandwidth, shading power, etc....
Downloaded ATITOOL, it works terribly, I can barely open it. Nor can I open my catalyst settings when I right click the desktop.

LMAO I OC'ed it to the max rivatuner said was ''recommended'' and my screen got tingly and I got the blue screen.... I think I understand it now, I got .25 FPS in Crysis i think.
