Is this a good vid card?

Just wondering if this card was worth the money, and if a 500w PSU would be enough for it. If not how about a 550w?And also, how much does this card outperform a 8600GTS, if it all?Is this a good vid card?
its quite a bit better than the 8600GTS, but i think you can get the Hd3850 for that kind of price and that one is better than the 2900pro.Is this a good vid card?
that card is a joke, get the 3850, it eats it alive, and the 2900pro was a last ditch 2900 series card(it didnt come out that long before the 3xxx series) and is now completely obsolete, it takes alot of power, and isnt that fast for the power req. dont get a 29xx card ever.
agreed...might be a good price but a psu upgrade would probably be in order also. the 2900's are huge power hogs...over 200 watts at load.
So this one is better than that HDX2900? Why are all of these ATI cards so much cheaper than the Nvidia cards anyways? The specs are nearly identical and they both support dual performance...am I missing something, or is ATI still worth buying?
Crap just noticed that the GeCube vid card that I just mentioned above is PCI-e 2.0 instead of 16...is that a bad thing, or is it simply just another slot that does not affect performance?
if you have a pci ex 2.0 mobo you can take advantage of power savings and other things, some of which may be performance related but nothing that will hinder the card in a normal slot.

Because the mobo that I plan on getting only has a PCI-e 16x and 4x slot, no 2.0 slot.
yep no prob

atm that's the best card for the buck, especially overclocked (these cards are beasts at OCing) also 2.0 works in 1.0 slots without a hitch, 2.0 has more power going to it, you wont see any difference between it and 1.0 really.also unless you want that card cuz its cheaper, id recommend this brand:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814129101its one of the better ATI brands, and it has a LIFETIME warranty.

Heres best bang for buck card on market http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814129102 cant say that 8800GT isnt great bang for buck but this card is just right behind it slightly.

You should get 3850 and if you can afford alittle bit more go with 3870

its the 512mb version. if youre going higher than 1440 res then get the 512 version
Actually yeah, I do plan on playing on a 1680x1050 res on my 22'' Widescreen monitor...The thing is my build NEEDS to be under $500.00 including S%26H. With that HD3850 My build will still be under $500.00 not including money back from rebates.Just out of curiosity though, how old is the HD3850? And what difference is there between 256MB GDDR3 and 512MB? I heard that it did not really make any difference.
