i loled
Both suck so much that it's not even worth using either.
8500GT wins, by a lot. However it wont be very good at displaying new games.

the other guy ;)
Pisses me off when people shout that somebody hasn't looked for stuff when they can't be assed to even read the damn queston correctly.
8500GT wins, by a lot. However it wont be very good at displaying new games.
Just because it's newer doesn't mean it's better. The 8500gt is not a gaming card, the 6600gt is one of the best price-performance gaming cards to have come out. The only place I know off that actually allows you to put one against the other is tomshardware. And, going on that, the cards are very close in performance with the 6600gt winning in most games benchmarks on lower resolutions, in spite of it's age. It depends a little on the games you like to play, but since higher resolutions are unplayable with both anyway, I would probably go with the 6600gt.
All these guys are wrong, coz 6600gt is clearly better in older games. If you don't believe it, there are proofs everywhere on the net. Look here. It is faster in allmost every game (fear, hl2, medieval2...). As for newer games, I cannot really tell, but in Crysis they performe kinda the same. The only real advantage of 8500gt are 3dMarks but that won't help you much. Oh, and it has hd video support and dx10-what an advantage. I say, use the 6600gt.
