Hey guys,I am considering getting a new 24inch panel as there is a kick ass 1900*1200 one at under 200quid! However, I am not sure whether my single 3870 could handle the higher res. for games like Crysis on high. What do people think? If it was the case that a single 3870 was insufficient then I would probably turn to crossfire. My question about this is would I need to another Gigabyte 3870 or could I mix brands with say an HIS one running at higher speeds?I am also interested in the 3870X2. Would it be possible to Crossfire a 3870X2 with my existing 3870. I have asked this before and the general consensus is that it probably would work. However, is 3 cores really necessary? Would the performace achieved by the 3rd core justify the cost of a 3870X2?Cheers.Confusion concerning Crossfire
Oh and I have a 520w psu. Would this be a problem?Confusion concerning Crossfire
Crossfire does not require identical GPU's like SLI does. You can actually mix the 3870 and 3850 and crossfire will determine the best method for dividing the workload.
Thats cool. if the 3870 and 3850 mix then one would expect the 3870 and the X2 to mix as well.

..and make sure you have a crossfire capable board... SLI boards don't do Crossfire. As far as I know... And there are a lot more SLI boards choices than Crossfire ones.... it seems. At least....if you browse around newegg.com.
The cards are compatable, but that's not enough wattage in your power supply. I would recommend at least 700 for a system running two video cards.
