Hey guys,
I bought this card the other day (powercolor x1950 pro 512meg) and I have a couple of questions.
When I play HL2 multi-player, it is totally unplayable. 1,2,3,4 FPS sometimes.
system: AMD 2200+, 1250mg Ram, Powercolor X1950 pro 512meg. I am expecting too much from my computer?
Another problem: I try to play Freespace 2 (made in about 1999), and the gameplay is stuttering!!! Surely I am right in thinking my PC should be able to handle this game??
Any help/info/suggestions would be GREATLY appreciatedcan my pc handle HL2?
is the x1950 the equivelent of the 6600GT??
cause if it is then it should run it
my old computer
Petium 4 - 6600GT - 512mb RAM ran it easilycan my pc handle HL2?
Your CPU is a little eh, but the X1950 PRO is great, considering HL2 isn't too demamnding. Demo it.
Your graphics card should be eating HL2 alive at max settings. Your CPU sucks though....... Sorry.

OK here is a better description of the problem (copied and pasted from another forum where I posted the q): OK I seem to have a big problem.
I have just finished building a new rig.
Basically this is the problem:
I am trying to play a game that I _know_ my system can handle.
When I first start playing everything is totally fine.
During play, the game gets jumpy (FPS i assume). It gets worse and worse til I've been playing for about 10 mins, and by then the game is virtually unplayable.

yes :(I'm at my witts end here
Drivers up to date? What is your PSU like? Are your temps ok?
Despite your system being a little dated, you should be able to play hl2 just fine. However, your pc is also very unbalanced. I would be interested to know if you upgraded your psu along with that graphics card. You mention hl2 multi-player, so how's your internet connection? Does the single player run ok?

His CPU however is a 32 bit single core Athlon XP, that's pretty freaking old. That CPU is like from the year 2002 so I'd advise that he'd upgrade that instead of his graphics card.
yes :(I'm at my witts end here
You may be having an overheating problem. Try downloading speedfan or another program to check your temps.
