a good gaming pc?

Hello,I am kind of a noob at hardware so I was wondering if this is a good computer to buy for gaming. Its the Gateway GT5662 Desktop PC. The link below shows everything about it, but just incase nobody trusts the link.http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/Search.do?c=1%26searchType=user%26keyword=GATEWAY+GT5662%26searchSection=AllChange the way you do everything with extreme AMD quad-core processing and other premium features including a DVD SuperMulti drive, Labelflash technology, a 15-in-1 media card reader and Windows Vista Home Premium.AMD Phenom processor: The quad-core 2.2GHz Phenom 9500 processor delivers the ultimate mega-tasking experience for entertainment, gaming and multimedia by providing direct and rapid information flow between processor cores, main memory, and graphics and video accelerators. The Phenom features AMD64 with Direct Connect Architecture to blast through performance bottlenecks and Cool'n'Quiet 2.0 technology to reduce heat and noise.
 • This desktop features 3GB of DDR2 system memory-enough for the most demanding users, gamers and multimedia professionals. DDR2 is slightly faster than DDR, the previous standard in system memory.
 • AMD employs HyperTransport technology, which works like a fully-integrated frontside bus that increases bandwidth, reduces bottlenecks and enables processors to work more efficiently. The end result is better performance.
 • Processors search for the same data over and over. L3 cache-extra cache that is built into the motherboard between the microprocessor and main memory-keeps this data neat, organized, and nearby so it can be retrieved more quickly. This 2MB L3 cache gives the processor a big boost.
Hard drive: This massive hard drive has a 500GB capacity-perfect for robust collections of music, movies and multimedia. This drive's data disks spin at 7200rpm, providing faster-than-average access to your files. This big hard drive, combined with AMD LIVE!, allows you to organize a large multimedia library and access content on your PC and your portable devices. DVD SuperMulti drive: Use this drive to burn DVDs and CDs to share your files, music mixes or home movies. You can even burn DVD-RAM discs-specially-formatted discs that let you drag and drop, or write and rewrite your files up to 100,000 times.LabelFlash technology: Laser-burn high resolution, images directly on DVDs and CDs for a scratch-resistant personalized label. Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium: This is the operating system for homes with advanced computer needs. And Vista Premium features the elegant new Aero interface. You'll be able to use your desktop more effectively and enjoy new entertainment experiences-all with the benefit of added security and reliability. High-end audio/video: This desktop features ATI Radeon HD 2400XT graphics with 256MB of dedicated video memory, an addition to the main system memory. This high-end memory is great for more demanding games or video editing. The included amplified stereo speakers provide compelling 3D sound.15-in-1 media card reader: Seamlessly transfer images from your digital camera, MP3 player or camcorder. This extremely versatile 15-in-1 reader is compatible with Smart Media, CompactFlash I/II, Secure Digital, mini Secure Digital, xD, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick Pro Duo, MicroDrive, MultiMedia Card (MMC), Reduced Size-MMC, MMCplus and MMCmobile.Software bundle:
Is this something worth its price? is it good enough? I get the feeling that quad core will be a lie or something.
good enough for what ? what games do you want to play ? and how can they lie there not just going to but a x2 prcessor in there as for your first question for gaming performance its not very good only because of the video card but for what your getting overall for the price yes its an excellent price a good gaming pc?
I would like to play Assassin's Creed (PC), Bioshock, maybe Farcry in medium graphics, and Call of Duty4 at its best.Besides the video card, would you say the processor is good?
the phenom has a bug in it which decrease about 30 percent for performnaceand that computer wont play bioshock or assasin's creedunless you buy a video card for it but most computers prebuilt have the worst power supplys i would suggest you build a computer from AVAdirect.com and show us what you plan on getting so we could give some feedback
Thats a good buy for that cost but buy 8600GT or better if you plan on gaming in general, Pick up a 8800GT/GTS, and if you cant pick up those try and get a ATI 3850 ir 3870. The cpu is better than mine :( ,but yet I can play any game max besides Crysis.

To recap, the erratum is a chip-level issue involving the TLB logic for the L3 cache that can cause system hangs in specific circumstances. AMD has a fix for the problem in the works, but it degrades performance. AMD has stated publicly that the workaround can lower performance by as much as 10%, although one source characterized the performance hit to TR as 10-20%.
I should of built mine but I have no idea how to do so but I may do it on the next one.At the moment this is what I haveamd athlon dual core 3800+ 2.02 gigs of ram]300+ hddnvidia 8600gt xxx 256mbTo tell the truth I have replaced everthing in the pc except for the mother board and the only reason I haven't doen that is because it is still under warrenty and also I plan on getting a bigger case not sure what size is mine at the moment but it is small.
