I was wondering if my current CPU Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 is bottlenecking my 8800 GTS 320MB video card. I run game's pretty good at max settings but I'm unsure as to how much improvement I could add with a processor upgrade. Thanks.CPU bottlenecking GPU?

Nowhere near bottle necking, that phrase gets thrown around too much.
Is no bottleneck there, E6400 is a strong CPU
Alright, thanks guys.

This is the real bottlenecking.My Pentium 4 3.06GHz HT bottlenecking my 8800GTS 640MB :cry:But I willbuy a Q6600 :D. Then no problems8)
What resolution are you playing at?There is almost no way that is bottlenecking unless you play at a really low res with really low graphic settings.

Sometimes going to 15FPS but normally its around 30FPS-40FPS
why the heck would an E6400 bottleneck an 8800GTS, this 'bottlenecking' thing is becoming a joke now.
why the heck would an E6400 bottleneck an 8800GTS, this 'bottlenecking' thing is becoming a joke now.
It does bottleneck it, just at a really low res.
It sorta seems like you don't even know what bottlenecking is...
No need in starting a new thread when I can just ask here...but would a 7950 GTX (512mb I guess) bottleneck a AMD Athlong 64 X2 5000+ 2.60GHz processor? >.> Ill be playing at 1024x768.
uhhh. no.
first off, i apologise for bumping a 5 month old thread but i didnt want to make a new thread.i have a similar question. im looking to get the HIS Hightech Radeon X1950PRO 512MB AGP to finally upgrade my aging Gateway Comp from 5 years ago (which has a old NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 128mb). I have a Pentium 4 Northwood Core 2.8Ghz CPU. i dont plan on upgrading my CPU. i also have 512mb of ddr ram in this rig but im gonna get 2 more gigs sametime i get a new vid card. and a new psu cause this rig only has a 250W PSU. if you suspect that my CPU would bottleneck this GPU then ill consider getting a older and cheaper GPU maybe a NVIDIA 6800GT or Radeon 9 Series card. also i plan on gaming at 1024x768 res. and dont suggest getting a new comp cause i just did (C2D E6750 2.66Ghz,2gb RAM, 8800GT), im justing doing a small upgrade to this one to ''extend the life'' of the system and use it as a secondary rig.
Don't worry, just crank all the settings as high as possible, except for some of the newer games and try to up the resolution a notch or two, you should be able to.
